37 year old Jacob Omar Simpson appeared in General Sessions Court Tuesday on a charge of criminal homicide. He waived his right to a preliminary hearing and his case was bound over to the grand jury. Simpson is charged in the shooting death of his son 20 year old Jathan Allen Cagle last month on January 20.
The McMinnville City Police Department and the 31st Judicial District – District Attorney General’s Office began an investigation into an incident that occurred at a residence on Lance Street in McMinnville. As a result of the joint investigation, Simpson was charged with criminal homicide after unlawfully shooting Cagle outside of the Lance Street residence. Simpsonremains in jail under a 1,000,000 dollar bond
The investigation is ongoing at this time.
