In the news today some controversy has arisen for two country singers Miranda Lambert and Jason Aldean. Miranda Lambert is known for her women empowerment as she sings “Gunpower and Lead,” “Mama’s Broken Heart,” “If I was a Cowboy”, and many other hits! Controversy came to play when she called out a fan at her concert in Las Vegas for taking a selfie while she was performing. Lambert stopped the show and stated, “I’m gonna stop right here for a sec, I’m sorry… These girls are worried about their selfie and not listening to the song. It’s ticking me off a little bit.” She continues to proceed using other words about how she is singing and that everyone is listening to country music tonight not taking selfies. Society and fans are divided whether the fans should live in the moment or if it was excessive and out of place. Miranda Lambert’s representative said she has no statement to add.
Jason Aldean known for his songs “Dirt Road Anthem”, “If I Didn’t Love you”, and “Big Green Tractor” along with others is in a controversy about his new song “Try That In A Small Town”. This song was released in May, but the video was released Friday and pulled from CMT as many believe it favors gun violence and lynching. Aldean believes as he stated that this criticism has gone too far and that he who lived through a mass shooting in 2017 as he performed is speaking out about these events and making awareness.
