Sparta Woman Killed in Highway 70 Crash

Sparta, TN – Rhonda Wilson, 57, of Sparta, died Monday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 70 East near Hillcrest. Trooper Chris Delong reports that Jason Ervin, 32, of Smithville, crossed the center line and collided with Wilson’s vehicle. Ervin, who fell asleep at the wheel, was unharmed. Wilson, despite attempting to avoid the crash, was pronounced dead at the scene. Ervin was cited for failing to maintain his lane and no insurance.
